This week the beat goes on with another round of trivia at World of Beer - Ft. Worth with PubGuys Trivia! This week was a showdown between some of our best teams, and two teams I've always wanted to see go at it were in attendance. Although our best teams were there, sometimes someone will show up out of nowhere and blow everyone away. Game 1
As I mentioned in the intro, this week we had some of our best teams in attendance, with Fish Tots, Jerk Store and Flaming Yawn (playing as Prof. on Rumspringa) all going at it for the chance to win! Joining the fray, and by no means the underdog, Got Here Late also gave it their best against these beastly teams that win quite often. Each game there's a Themed Round for the 2nd round of the game, and this game's theme was: Losing My Religion, meaning all the questions and answers that round had something to do with religion. Teams that guessed the theme correctly received an extra point for their efforts.
In addition to the Themed Round there was also a Visual Round for Game 1 that was due at the end of Round 3. This round gives each team a chance to add 10 points to their final score, oftentimes giving the final push to take 1st place. The them for the Visual Round this week was: Name the world leader or the country, so the visual guide had the faces of several world leaders for the teams to guess. Coming in 1st place, barely above 2nd, was Prof. on Rumspringa, with Jerk Store and Got Here Late tying for 2nd. After blowing the dust off our Tome of Tiebreakers, Jerk Store ended up taking the win for Game 1. Here's a question that stumped everyone in Game 1:
Most teams guessed something demonic, like Beelzebub, Lucifer, or Satan, but they were all incorrect. The correct answer was:
Captain Howdy or Pazuzu
Game 2
For this game all of the top teams stuck around, so we had a second showdown between some very smart players. As usual there was another Themed Round for the 2nd round, and the theme this time was: Open your mind before your MOUTH, meaning all the questions/answers that round had something to do with mouths (who would have guessed!). Replacing the Visual Round from Game 1, we had a Kitchen Timer Bonus Round. This week's Kitchen Timer Round was worth 6 points, and the teams were given a time limit to answer this question: Name the 6 team nicknames that are shared amongst the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB leagues.
Coming out on top for Game 2, by ONE point, was Got Here Late. We determined they won the game by being the only team to get one of the final three-point questions correct! Tying for 2nd place this time we had Fish Tots and Jerk Store reaching for the Tome of Tiebreakers, with Fish Tots ultimately taking the 2nd place $10 gift certificat prize. Here's one that stumped almost everyone:

After that fairly intense night featuring some of our top teams I can't wait for next week, since I hope they come back again.
