Tuesday night at Cowtown Brewing Co. was another unforgettable evening of PubGuys Trivia, paired perfectly with cold craft beer and the mouth-watering flavors of Outpost 36 Texas BBQ. The taproom was buzzing with energy as teams packed the brewery, pencils ready and brains in gear, ready to battle through six rounds of trivia madness. With bonus questions sprinkled in and the competition as tough as ever, it was anyone’s game from start to finish.
The night opened with a bang as teams came out strong in Round 1. Hot Tequila, We Drink and Maybe Know Things, and The Horde each jumped out early, putting pressure on the rest of the field. By the end of Round 2, the standings started to take shape—We Drink and Maybe Know Things held a slight edge with 13 points, while Hot Tequila matched them step for step. Off to Grandmas bounced back from a slower first round with a huge second round performance, keeping themselves right in the hunt.
Meanwhile, Lucky Lickers and Dabs kept pace in the middle of the pack, quietly staying within striking distance. Even the lower-scoring teams—Sam is Awesome, No Folk and Chance, and the creatively named I Quizzed My Pants—were having fun, enjoying the food, the laughter, and the chance to be part of the trivia action.
As the questions got trickier, the leaderboard started to shuffle. Off to Grandmas surged in Round 3, racking up an impressive 8 points, while We Drink and Maybe Know Things stayed consistent with another strong round. Hot Tequila stumbled a bit with only 3 points, but made up for it in Round 4 with a perfect 7, clawing their way back into contention.
At the halfway mark, the energy in the room was electric. Teams were trading friendly jabs, tables erupted with cheers for right answers, and the smell of brisket and smoked sausage from Outpost 36 filled the air. It was anyone’s guess who would walk away the winner, and the crowd loved every minute of the back-and-forth competition.
By Round 5, three teams had clearly separated themselves from the pack. Hot Tequila, We Drink and Maybe Know Things, and Off to Grandmas were neck-and-neck, each piling up points and refusing to blink. Round 6 saw a final push, but incredibly, when the dust settled, all three teams were locked in a dead-even tie at 41 points.
It was an unbelievable finish—a three-way tie for first place! With the crowd on their feet, we pulled one last tiebreaker question out of the bag. Each team selected 1 teaqmmate to join me at the hosting station for 1 tie breaker question. 1 question, 10 seconds and the 2 teams that were closest would take 1st and 2nd place! Each player gave their best guess, knowing one final answer stood between them and victory.
When the scores were checked, the room erupted. Congratulations to We Drink and Maybe Know Things for taking 1st place, edging out the field by the narrowest of margins. Off to Grandmas secured a well-earned 2nd place, while Hot Tequila landed in 3rd, just a hair away from the win.
The rest of the leaderboard rounded out with The Horde and Dabs tying for 4th, Lucky Lickers in 6th, I Quizzed My Pants in 7th, No Folk and Chance in 8th, and Sam is Awesome in 9th.
It was a night of laughs, surprises, and plenty of cheers as Cowtown Brewing Co. once again proved itself the place to be on a Tuesday night. With amazing beer, incredible BBQ, and one of the most competitive trivia crowds around, this week’s game was one for the books.
