Hanky and Panky! Wow, what an amazing night of Trivia at Cowtown Brewing Co.! I think that everyone was still recovering from the big game on Sunday as the crowd trickled in as close to 7 as possible. However, I had no doubts that we would have another packed house and you all did not disappoint. With Dimestore Drinkers, Spooning Leads to Forking, Hot Tequila, Spare Parts, Mouseaholics, and Tequila is better cold we had our regulars. We also had some new faces tonight with Trivia Newton John, Shit Show, The Monkees and Daryl Hawkins and Connie Hawkins.
GAME 1:
Fast and Furious has nothing on the trivia teams at Cowtown! Out of the gate we had our leader, Trivia Newton John, after 2 rounds sitting at 13 points. However, nipping at their heels were Shit Show, Mouseaholics, Dimestore Drinkers, and our 2 Tequilas – 1 Hot and 1 Better Cold. 3 points separated 1st from 3rd, and it would all come down to bonus points and the 3rd round. 3 teams scored a perfect 8 points in round 3 but it came down to the bonus points to see who would win. In true Cowtown fashion, we had a TIE! 6th place to 3rd place were all separated by 1 point and our 2 leaders, Trivia Newton John, and Shit Show, were tied at 24. Who would take game 1? Well, it all came down to who guessed closest to the answer to the following question: “According to the Brewers Association, in 1979, there were 42 breweries operating in the United States. How many Breweries were in operation in the U.S. by the end of 2012”? Well, one team apparently thought 35 breweries closed as they put down 7. So sorry Trivia Newton John. Congrats to Shit Show for guessing higher and thus getting closer to the answer of 3464. Congrats Shit Show on winning game 1! What would game to bring?
GAME 2:
That beloved ratpack, The Mouseaholics, came to play in game 2. Tightening down their thinking caps they came out of the gate with an amazing 13 points after 2 rounds. However, the heavyweights Hot Tequila and Tequila is better cold were close on their heels at 10 points. We had 3 other teams staying close at 9 points. Going into round 3 this was still anyone’s game. Again, BONUS POINTS, were a game changer for this game. We had the top 4 teams all score 5 points in the final round, but Spare Parts sadly had 0 bonus points this game while The Mouseaholics and Hot Tequila had 3 bonus points and Tequila is Better Cold had 4, which is what they needed to take over second place by 1 point! CONGRATS to the Mouseaholics for taking 1st and CONGRATS to Tequila is better Cold on edging out their bitter rival, Hot Tequila, by 1 point to take 2nd place.
A huge shoutout to the Cowtown Brewing Co. staff, Becca, Patrick, Gavin, and Christiana for taking care of all the trivia heads. You make my job a lot easier!
