It was a fine night to celebrate Mardi Gras PubGuys fashion. We had a surprise, theme night Tuesday with all questions about Mardi Gras. The atmosphere was amazing as we played a wonderful Mardi Gras music channel and set the mood right. The party was on! Sadly, I forgot my beads and mask, but that did not take away from the fun!
We had our regulars, including Pocket, Tequila is Better Cold, Mouseaholics and No Folk and Chance. We welcomed in Cheating Bastards, Only hot boys wear pink and Good Soup to our trivia family tonight.
Game 1:
This game was fast and furious and bonus questions played a huge role in finding our winners. After 2 rounds we had newcomers Cheating Bastards sitting at the top with 12 points. However, Pocket and Tequila is better cold were right there with them at 9 points. Mouseaholics were still in the hunt at 8 points, but it was a longshot. With an amazing 8 points in round 3 and netting an amazing 5 of 6 bonus points, Cheating Bastards never looked back and took the win with a 7-point lead. Pocket edged out Tequila is better cold by 1 point to take 2nd place in game 1.
Game 2:
What would we see in game 2? More of the same? We shall see!
With an amazing start of 17 points after 2 rounds, Cheating Bastards were sitting back sipping wine and enjoying some King Cake (looking for that plastic baby). Tequila is better cold, and Pocket were still in the hunt being 3 and 4 points down respectively. This game came down to round 3 and 3 teams dug deep and scored an amazing 9 points! With Cheating Bastards still sitting in the lead, Tequila is better cold was making a push and were only 3 points down going into our surprise 2-minute kitchen timer question. Tonight, the teams got to experience a bonus question worth up to 9 points! They were excited but nervous, knowing this could cost them the game. All I wanted to know is “According to Trip Savvy, what are the top 9 cities for celebrating Mardi Gras in the US?” It was a tough question and no team scored more than 5 points and our top 3 teams only scored 3. No Folk and Chance and Pocket fought hard but fell short, tying for 3rd place. Thanks to rounds 2 and 3 Tequila is better cold made there way into 2nd place. Congrats again to Cheating Bastards for taking game 2 as well! Of course, after the game, we come to find out they had a ringer from New Orleans. But hey, nobody knew it was going to be Mardi Gras trivia tonight.
A huge shoutout to the Cowtown Brewing Co staff for taking care of us on Monday. As always, the food was hot, and the beer was cold. Thank you, Gavin, Heather, Christiana, and Eric. You make my job a lot easier!
