What a fun filled night of PubGuys Trivia. Ten teams vying for 1st and 2nd place for some amazing prizes! Yes, Gift Cards! Who does not like free food and beer?
GAME 1:
From Lisbon to 2001: A Space Odyssey, this game had a little bit of everything. Round one was a good warmup for what was to follow and the Mouseaholics took full advantage taking a quick 2-point lead. But not to be left behind, Pocket, were hot on their tail and only trailed by 2 points. Spare Parts and Hot Tequila were in the mix too! This came down to round 3 and the bonus questions. I have to say, the bonus questions were not friendly, which made it exciting for me! Blood or beer? The question that changed the game for several teams as Pope Gregory IX declared that baptizing children in BEER was invalid. This question stumped 60% of the teams and was a true game changer! Both scoring an amazing 8 points in round 3 we saw Spare Parts and Hot Tequila compete for 2nd place. Thanks to round 1 and 1 extra bonus point, Hot Tequila took 2nd. With a consistent score of 6.33 points per round we saw the newcomers, the Mouseaholics, take the win in game 1! What a start to the night.
GAME 2:
Odd question, but how tasty is Reindeer? Not sure we will know as Finland rejected the exportation of reindeer in 2013 due to a shortage. I can say I am not displeased with that. I would hate to think how tasty Rudolph’s great, great, great grand-deer taste.
Ok, that is an odd way to start this summary, but it had to be done. Now on to the meat of the game! What a start we had with Jersey! getting an amazing 8 points in round 1. Hot Tequila, Pocket, Stick, and Beer is good & Stuff also started strong with 5 points. The winners of game 1, Mouseaholics, started a little slow only getting 3 points. However, you cannot count out any of these teams after just 1 round. Again, the bonus points had a lot to do with the winners. With consistent scores of 5 or 6 points we saw Mouseaholics, Hot Tequila, Pocket, Jersey!, and Beer is good & Stuff all within 5 points of 1st place going into the final round. All I can say is they may be small, but so was Mighty Mouse! With an amazing 8 bonus points and an amazing 10 points in round 3, we saw the Mouseaholics sneak out a 2-point victory over…oh wait…another week another tie for 2nd! We had Jersey! and Hot Tequila tie at 24. I love it when this happens. 1 question, 1 point, 1 2nd place winner. Your bonus question was “How many counties are in the state of Texas”? With a name like Jersey! I did not expect them to get the answer, well not be 100% correct. I ASSumed neither player was from Texas. Hot Tequila had a great guess but fell short. Congrats to Jersey! for a great 2nd place win!
A huge shout out to Darrel, Gavin, Heather, and Christiana (the Cowtown Brewing Co. crew) for being on top of everything and ensuring all the players and patrons had cold beer and hot food. You all make my life easier!
