…and even hotter trivia games!
Game 1:
We had our regulars, Tequila is better cold, Mouseaholics, and Hot Tequila in our midst. Joining them were some new faces with Stranger Danger, Costdekerman and Molly and the Alcoholic.
With a great start we had No Folk and Chance and Stranger Danger take a quick lead. However, Mouseaholics and Hot Tequila were right in the running. With a great 7 points in round 2, the Mouseaholics took a 1-point lead going into the final round. Could they maintain the lead? Both Mouseaholics and No Folk and Chance were getting the bonus questions, which would help in the end. Stranger Danger had an amazing round 3 getting 8 points, but they only received 1 bonus point. Hot Tequila struggled this game and fell just short of the top 3. With an amazing 8 points, as well, No Folk and Chance took the game with 23 points. In true Cowtown fashion, we had a tie for 2nd place. Stranger Danger, with their 8 points, did enough to tie the Mouseaholics who only received 4 points in round 3. Our tie breaker question was “To the nearest second, how long is the longest recorded Academy Award acceptance speech?” With an answer of 215 and an answer of 2234 we had our 2nd place team. Congrats to Stranger Danger on taking down one of the toughest teams at Cowtown! What would we see in game 2?
Game 2:
A slow start for most teams with 3 teams only getting 2 points to start the game. That is a rough way to start, especially with the tenacity and knowledge of the Cowtown Brewing teams. Round 2 Tequila is better cold stayed cold only getting 2 points for a total of 4 in 2 rounds. Things were not looking good as the Mouseaholics, No Folk and Chance, Hot Tequila and Average Sassy Sisters all had 8 to 10 points through 2 rounds. However, I through out a surprise bonus question in round 3 which could get the teams up to 8 points. With an amazing 13 bonus points and 8 points, in round 3, we saw Hot Tequila make a come back and match No Folk and Chance and Mouseaholics to TIE for 1st. Tequila is better cold made an amazing come back in round 3 and with bonus points but fell 5 points short of tying. If they had just a few more points in rounds 1 and 2, we would have had an amazing 4-way tie! So, we had a 3-way tie and I decided to ask 2 questions. The first question was “How many total Allied naval vessels were involved in the D-Day assault phase known as Operation Neptune?” We had several guesses ranging from 13 to 247. The answer was 6939 naval vessels. Congrats to No Folk and Chance for taking 1st in game 2. This left the Mouseaholics and Hot Tequila to answer this question: “What percentage of the Earth’s land surface area belongs to the countries designated as Latin America?” We had a guess of 7% and a guess of 2%. The answer was 13%. Congrats to Hot Tequila for taking 2nd place and downing their nemesis, the Mouseaholics.
A huge thank you to the Cowtown crew for taking care of us all! Gavin, Heather, Todd, Rob, Christiana, Reagan, and crew. You all make my life easier by bringing the teams cold beer and hot food.
I look forward to seeing you next Tuesday, at Cowtown Brewing Co., from 7pm – 9pm for another fun night of PubGuys trivia!
Until then…
