When I was a small child I had tons of energy. On a daily basis, I'm sure it drove my mother crazy that I was a constant ball of motion. It didn't matter what was going on or where, I had to be up and moving. To keep me occupied, my mother would suggest that I run to the end of the block. It was never a race, and for some reason, I never cared to time myself. It was more the liberating act of running to the stop sign at the end of the block and then running back. I did this probably 50 times a day. I can only imagine now, how tiring that must have been for my mother. Simply put, I loved to run.
Somewhere along the way, things changed and I realized that running sucks. It really does. Seriously, what was I thinking as a child? Running in the cold, running in the heat, running in the rain, even running on a perfect weather day.....it just sucks. I'd much rather drink beer. And, as most can tell by my runner's physique, if beer-drinking was a race, I'd be quite the marathoner.
There really wasn't much of a point to this little anecdote. I simply wanted to reiterate that running (especially in this awful Texas heat) sucks. So, instead of running, you guys should play more trivia or even Bottlecap Bingo from the PubGuys.
Congrats to our winners and we'll see you next time.
