I sincerely hope you all had a very happy 4th of July celebration. I was lucky enough to spend the day mattress shopping (hooray) before driving to what seemed like south Kansas (it was actually Frisco) to meet my nephews for a baseball game and the fireworks display that followed. I always enjoy seeing the look on their faces when they see fireworks. The joyous expressions on their innocent faces really make me appreciate my time with them. It's basically the same look I see on most of your faces when I walk in the door at the World of Beer for another night of PubGuys Trivia. And, as you know, I certainly appreciate my time with you as well. Enough with the mushy stuff. Happy 4th.

In Game 1, we had a fierce competition right from the beginning. In the end, Brews Your Daddy walked away with the top prize, followed by the triumphant return of We're Here for the Beer!. Welcome back ladies! In addition to the normal gift cards, we had Dwayne from Southern Tier Brewing Company on-site handing out some awesome prizes. In fact, Brews Your Daddy was able to walk out with bombers of 2 of Southern Tier's fine beers.

For the Power Hour, it was evident from the start that William Shatnerface was not happy with their performance in game 1. They roared out of the gate and held the lead throughout the game, taking home top honors, as well as 2 more of Southern Tier's finest beers. Keeping pace on the night, once again, was We're Here for the Beer coming in second. Though, to win the second place prize, they had to best Bar in a tiebreaker question concerning the total number of statues in Central Park. It turns out, there are a lot more statues than you'd think.

Congratulations to the Deathly Hallows for being the only team that took advantage of bonus point presented in last week's write-up. It's not difficult folks. We post on FB and Twitter. Click the link, read the summary (this), and bring whatever piece of information I ask to trivia next week.

Here's some stuff we learned as the night went on:

  • Protons, neutrons, and electrons make up the building block of matter known as Dookie
  • Herbert Morrison's quote "Oh, the humanity!" does not describe the last time I had sex
  • Anderson Cooper's mother, and heiress, is Aretha Franklin
  • Harry Potter was the famous author that committed suicide in Idaho in 1961
  • The Ancient Roman unit of measurement that is equivalent to 1500 paces is the British pound

Thanks to everyone for coming out. We'll be starting up our next PubGuys Trivia League in a few weeks, so stay posted for that news. If you're not already following us on all the major social networks, you need to do so; it's worth some bonus points and you might learn something.

If you're reading this and you want a bonus point next week, show up and tell me the capital of Latvia.

Cheers!

PGAdam
