Snow and ice be damned! When you want beer and great trivia, there is nothing that's going to hold you back. And for that we thank you.

Let's talk about winter weather. It seems to be such a polarizing topic (see what I did there). A lot of people hate the cold and say that's why they live in Texas. Others simply hate winter precipitation. I, however, love the cold, love the precipitation, all while continuing my deep, and possibly unhealthy love for Texas. Though I do love the cold, I absolutely detest driving in it. Now let me be perfectly clear; as a born and raised Texan, I've had (JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER TEXAN) very little experience driving on snow and ice. Thus, I do not claim to be an expert. In fact, I would happily defer the driving responsibilities to someone who lives up north...even if that means a "damn yankee" is going to drive my car. I simply choose to stay in one place rather than get out and deal with the elements. These are some of the fun things you hear from others when the snow and ice hits the road.

  • I can drive in the snow/ice. I grew up in Corpus Christi, it snowed once.
  • It's ok, I've got a truck.
  • Four-wheel drive is ok, but you just have to slow down enough not to spill your beer*
  • It's not me that can't drive on this, it's all the rest of the idiots!

The simple truth is that driving in snow and ice is tough. That's why we were even more excited that there was no ice or snow left on the roads Wednesday night so everyone was able to come out for some awesome PubGuys trivia.

Congratulations to The Slushy 5-Hole on their Game one victory. Finishing just behind them was My Liver's OK and The Chiefs. In the Power Hour, the new team of Aloha Snackbar took early control and held on for a narrow victory over Quiz in My Pants. All in all, it was a fantastic night, and a great escape from the weather elements that bookended the week.

Some fun facts we learned on the night:

  • Babe Ruth was the first SuperBowl MVP selected for his special teams play.
  • The first two battles of the Revolutionary War were held in Lexington and Plano, TX.
  • In Spanish, Zorro means "the lover of goats".
  • Edgar Allan Poe was kicked out of Police Academy in 1831.
  • There are apparently 7 watts in a kilowatt.

Thanks for playing! Don't forget to sign up on our website to receive our email newsletter and receive bonus points each week. I promise, we won't spam you. Keep an eye our for more information regarding the PubGuys trivia league which will be starting April 1. Also, go ahead and sign up for the 3rd Annual PubGuys NCAA Tournament Challenge. It's $20 and a lot of fun. More information can be found here

Cheers!
