Welcome to another truncated chapter of the never-ending saga that is Tuesday night Trivia!

Gathering to effortlessly drink away the vituperations of our week (I know it is only Tuesday, keep up), 4 teams kept each other company while also egging one another, in the last Trivia night directed by yours truly until July, when I return. Look out for Bayley, who will be taking over Trivia nights in my absence! 

By their powers combined, the teams of Brewsters and Let’s Get Quizzical got together since they were missing players and carried once more the banner of The DMZ.

JDPB has become a perennial team, to my eternal delight. They were joined by Prestige Worldwide and Team Wilhamy who at some point through the night decided to move closer to me, instead of to another state. Swoon!

Thusly festooned with golden hopes and patently delusory, all teams went the extra mile to continuously beg for points, at times it seemed just for breathing. They are so cute.

The Franken-DMZ being aware that this would be my last trivia night in a while, provided extra effort in testing their ability to shout at every word I uttered. At one point they skidded down the road of my patience with enough strength to make a new yorker cab driver cautious- relatively speaking, that is, since a cab driver’s idea of caution matches the average person’s idea of homicidal negligence.

The question that got zero love was in our third round, when it asked

The alphabet was thoroughly shamed by all but one team, poor Etruscans never saw this coming. 

Team Wilhamy had a secret weapon even to them, their teenage daughter. She was the only one that could accurately answer

With great power, comes points and bragging rights. 

Today I felt like my soul was wearing pants with a waistband four sizes too snug. What was an indescribably awful day to the family of 21 Texans, who died in a senseless shooting, was a traditional night for the rest of us. Unable and unwilling to gloss over that, we held a toast at the end of our Trivia night to at least remember those who left. It is nothing but a small gesture in a sea of grief, yet the reminder to love fiercely and adamantly was needed.
