A brand new month means another squeaky clean Tuesday night of Trivia, that will most likely not remain quite so clean for long. Welcome to February!

Texas is known for a lot of things, but never in a million years would we have guessed that our winters would become parka weather. Like in all relationships, the weather is keeping the fire of our courtship alive. In this case quite literally.

Which meant that a few of our regulars were not keen to brave the potentially risky conditions of our roads- unaccustomed to anything wetter than rain- and such is the reason why Brewsters and Let’s Get Quizzical, two of our fiercer competitors, found themselves pooling team players under one banner to play - Brewsters. It was akin to watching a lion tenderly dress up a lamb for school, wondrous and a little bit terrifying.

Right off the gate Fat Cat earned my undying love by drawing little pictures of their own fat cat on the answer sheets - and when they got behind on points, it was a very sad fat cat. I then got to see pictures of the inspiration for their name and drawings, such a beautiful baby!

British Arrow showed where their concentration was when they chose Mardi Gras over Lent, while halfway through the game Cyclopaths dwindled from 6 people to 2, yet the remaining members valiantly fought to keep up with the competition. Hat tip gents, since I know this particular game was a bit sadistic in nature.

On one of the least favorite questions of round 4, which only two of our 7 teams answered right,

What is the surname of the legendary King of Britain, King Arthur?

Pak Attack showed their sense of humor and nod to a cult classic, with their answer of Locksley. “Struckey has loxed again”, if you know you know.

But by far the most disturbing question was on our 5th round

In The Walking Dead, after cutting off his hand, what does Merle replace it with?

To which the Know Nothings displayed an astounding knowledge of weaponry when they answered: a bow. When I queeried them on how one would fire, the answers were worse than I thought.

Yet the most exciting and dangerous (for me) part of the night happened during our Bonus question

Name the five European countries that start with the letter "M".

One of our teams, Hopscotch, had been oscillating between 4th and 3rd place, however they picked up the gauntlet of my challenge when I announced I would give whomever answered all 5 countries right double the points.

Little did I know that one of their players is a Flight Attendant who effortlessly answered this and single handedly helped her team shoot to first place with a total of 37 points.

This was an impressive feat, the pieced-together Brewsters wanted to wear my entrails for garters, everybody was amazed. What a way to end the night!

And so our scoreboard looked a bit shaken up towards the end, with Hopscotch bringing the lead at 37 points, Franken-Brewsters landing second with 33 points, and Know Nothings capping our top 3 with 31 points.

Filled with relentless energy, our Siren Rock Bartenders kept us all well watered and fed, as well as supporting our trivia game in all the ways they could.

Hope to see you all next Tuesday, in this continuous turn of the wheel. Be safe and stay warm!

Always yours,

PGSnapdragon
