This week they had the doors wide open in The Wolf Den at False Idol Brewing! It was a very nice night out and there were certainly a lot of players out for some free trivia and a chance at some free beer! We had over 40 players this game with returning teams like the Bronze Medalists and Go Cowboys! I even had a few friends from when I used to play at Beer & Brats show up to join forces with Island Boiz. Just like every week there's always a chance for free beer every round if your team gets 1st place for that round! Overall 1st place gets a $50 gift card!
Game 1
This week The Flame and the Void, as always, showed up and represented even with only two players! For the 1st round I had my first ever seven way tie for 1st place, so we did one massive Rock, Paper, Scissors knockout round. Three teams got knocked out in the very first game of RPS when the other two teams guessed scissors to their paper. The final winner of that face-off was Couch Potatoes! Round two, of six, was a themed round and was one of the few rounds that had a question that nobody got right:
What beverage was first known in Europe as "Arabian Wine" and was considered by American colonists as an expression of freedom?
That's a creative one that I wish I knew! We had a lot of answers like grappas, mead, tea, cognac, and even brandy. All of the other questions, or answers, all fit around a common theme for Round 2 (just like Round 5), but I don't think the answer will surprise you:
That's it! Coffee! Who would have guessed? I can certainly see why it's a mainstay of American beverages even today.
Thank you to everyone who came out for some trivia at The Wolf Den! This week they had a barrel aged stout called Booker T that is 15% and VERY good! I also got to try their Mr. Earlybird Farmhouse Ale as well as their Wild Card New England Hazy IPA, both of which were full of flavor and easy to put down! If you don't come for trivia at least come out to Steal the Pint because each Thursday when you buy one select beer from them you get to keep the pint glass it came in!
