Many scientific inquiries invariably rely on key assumptions. One specific assumption, especially popular in economics, is ceteris paribus, or that all other things will remain equal.
One general example goes something likes this (thank you, Wikipedia):
"'If the price of milk falls, ceteris paribus, the quantity of milk demanded will rise.' This means that, if other factors, such as deflation, pricing objectives, utility, and marketing methods, do not change, the decrease in the price of milk will lead to an increase in demand for it."
That's how tonight felt: Tie-breakers in rounds 1, 5, and 6 (the final being a three-way tie); a three-way tie for second in Round 2 and a four-way tie for second in Round 3; and we ended the night with just five points separating the top four teams.
Here's how everything played out. The Hugh Jackmans won a Round 1 tie-breaker and took rounds two and three outright; Crew Chiefs took Round 4; LIFO the Party bested the Jackmans in a Round 5 tie-breaker; and Biotch bested both the Jackmans and the Chiefs in our final round tie-breaker.
All things being equal, we all learned two fun facts from tonight's bonus questions:
