I was thrilled to have the opportunity to sub at Hayters. This is one of my favorite bars as its location right next door to Hurtados is ideal. Good beers and great litte bar.

We weren't sure we would have a game ten minutes before we started. There was only one team. I appreciated the flexibility of starting at 7:30 as I had another engagement that went until 7. I rounded up some volunteer teams outside and a few more teams arrived so we had five teams that started - Meat Sweats, Bob's your uncle, Inappropriately Confident, and Ram Ranch.

We followed the same bonus question format that I usually have. One question per round that I wrote that builds on one of the five questions, and a second question where you have to identify the year all the songs I play during the round were released. We also awarded prizes a bit differently where teams can win after each of the six rounds, plus an overall win. Hayters is a generous venue in that the first round is worth $5, the second is $10, and the third is $15. Then we start over for the last three rounds. The overall winner after six rounds gets $20. These gifts can't be used in the same evening but are good for four weeks thereafter.

Inappropriately confident and Bob's you uncle went neck and neck throughout the evening. Because we had winners after each round, we had two sudden death tiebreakers. Bob's won the first one after round 2 (what is the area in thousands of miles of Madagascar?) and IC won after round 4 (what is the height in feet of the third tallest building in Chicago?). Aggressive rec softball won round three outright.

At the end of the evening, Ram Ranch and Meat Sweats had left and it came down to three teams. Inappropriately Confident edged Bob's by three points for the overall win. I want to thank the staff at Hayters for keeping me well hydrated throughout the evening and for everyone that came out to play (and to those that came out not planning to play but did anyway).
