Are you familiar with the eephus? Picture this. You're at bat, the pitcher's rotating through his usual lineup: high-outside heater, deadly curve, four-seam fastball, just outside. The count's 3-2. And then this tricky minx throws you one of these:
A seemingly slow-motion 50 mph whale-tail. You whiff it and head back to the dugout. The pitcher cracks a wry smile. How could you not love baseball?
How does this relate to tonight's trivia sesh? Well, none of our eight teams had ever heard of an eephus either, and I thought I'd turn that into a learning opportunity.
