We're in the Haus one more time with PubGuys Trivia in the Arlington Highlands! We've been here a little over two months and it has been a blast! The staff is extremely friendly and, each week, we seem to meet new players that want to get in on the trivia fun! Since Dog Haus is in the middle of the Highlands, with no other trivia that can compare nearby, we get a lot of walk-in players joining us! This week was no different, with almost 30 players going at it for a chance to win a $25 or $15 gift card per game. Per game, you ask? Yes, that means there are TWO games, so there are TWO chances to win! In total if you win 1st place twice, that's $50 in gift cards! Hello, Christmas! Let's get into what happens:

Game 1

The usual suspects Team With No Name and Mouseaholics were out in force this week, and we also saw the return of Inappropriately Confident as well. I was able to discover that Balls & Dolls were regular players from our other location at Cowtown Brewing, so it was nice to see a team that knew who we were and joined in at a new location! For Game 1 we always have a Visual Round, and this week it was Name the Confection. Each team was provided with a visual guide that had the cross-section of a candy bar, so they had to tell us what candy bar was what.

In addition to that, Round 2 always has a theme, and this week it was Viva la France. That meant all the questions/answers that round involved France. At the end of Game 1 Mouseaholics danced away with a commanding lead of 31 points! Coming in 2nd at 24 points we had Inappropriately Confident. Here's a question that almost stumped everyone:

  • Who was the last President of the United States to be in office while no other former President was alive?

The key to this question was the term in office, so a lot of teams got the answer incorrect. The correct answer was:

  • Nixon

Game 2

For Game #2 we were down one team, but we still had 25 players going at it for a new chance at winning a $25 or $15 gift card. Unlike the first game, there is no Visual Round. Instead there is a Kitchen Timer Bonus Round, in which each team is timed for a chance to win up to 10 additional points. This week's Kitchen Timer was worth 10 points and asked: As of August 2021, what are the top 10 countries with the highest number of UNESCO world heritage sites?

The theme for Round 2 this game was All About Mexico, so all the questions and answers involved Mexico. It seems like Team With No Name woke up this round, since they took 1st place in each round leading up to the Kitchen Timer Round. Inevitably they took 1st place, with Inappropriately Confident taking 2nd. Here's one that stumped everyone:

  • Pumpkins are native to which continent?

North America, Asia, Europe, they were all wrong. The correct answer was:

  • South America

That's all for this week's recap of PubGuys Trivia at Dog Haus in the Arlington Highlands! Be sure to catch us next week from 7 to 9 PM, and don't forget it's always FREE to play! Even if you just come for the food or drinks, you'll definitely have a great time. See you next week!
